Usage
The shinobi look
Put it in the chest armor slot to wear a short wrapped jacket held at the waist by a sash. It guards little, but while you wear it you walk and run a little faster.
Mending it
It wears out as you wear it. Repair it on an anvil with wisteria cloth; Unbreaking and Mending take to it.
Behavior
Four pieces make the outfit
The hood, jacket, trousers and socks are one outfit of the same cloth, and each piece you put on lightens your step. With all four you run about as fast as a Swiftness potion would carry you. No effect icon and no particles appear — take one off and you lose that share of the speed.
It will not hide you
Speed is all it gives. It will not quiet your footsteps and will not make you harder to see in the dark. Wearing it, you are found exactly as often as without it.
It trades away protection
The jacket guards little, and even the full outfit stays far softer than a leather set. Protection enchantments will not take to it either. This is a look that trades away armour for speed.

In the real world
A kuro shozoku is a short jacket, wrapped deep across the front and held by a sash at the waist. The collar is a folded band of the same cloth, crossing at the chest. The sleeves are narrow tubes that close at the wrist, and the hem stops at the hip. The hood, trousers and socks are separate cloths of the same outfit, and the shin wraps are another cloth again.
Differences in game
Historical shinobi clothing also included dark grey or navy work clothes; satoyama uses black throughout. The increase in movement speed while wearing it is a game effect.
