| Planted as | Garlic Chive Seeds |
A bundle of flat green leaves. Edible raw, though pungent — it belongs in a hot pan or a bowl of soup. Also the source of its own seeds.
A farmland crop you cut rather than pull. Right-click a grown clump and the chives drop while the stock stays put, shorter for a while, then grows back. There is nothing to replant, and in exchange one cutting yields less. Breaking the clump returns seeds only. First seeds come from wild garlic chives in a meadow.
Obtaining
- Harvested from Garlic Chives
Generation
- Wild patch: meadow
Ecological basis
Garlic chives are a temperate East Asian perennial of sunny grassland and slopes. Meadow represents a bright upland grassland.
Usage
A crop you cut
This is not a crop you break to harvest. Let it grow tall, then cut it. The clump survives, comes back shorter and grows again, so one planting keeps yielding from the same spot. Right-clicking before it is grown does nothing.
Cutting it automatically
A dispenser loaded with shears, aimed at the clump, cuts only what has grown. Pair it with an observer watching the clump and it keeps harvesting without any replanting.
